Avoid going close to rivers after heavy rainfall, and if rafting is part of your plan, check whether the activity is operating on that day before booking.
Is it Safe to Visit Mussoorie in September?
Mussoorie can still be visited in September, but right now the Dehradun-Mussoorie Road is the bigger concern than the weather in Mussoorie town.
The recent rain has caused landslides and road-related problems around the Mussoorie-Dehradun Road. The Route has seen fresh cracks and damage, while nearby houses have been evacuated after landslide activity. The road has also faced repeated blockage and disruption as the rain continued.
If there has been no fresh heavy rain and the road is operating normally, Mussoorie can still be manageable.
But if there has been heavy overnight rain, a fresh landslide, or an official weather warning, postponing the drive is the safer option.
Is Nainital Safe to Visit in September?

If you are planning a Char Dham trip in the next few days, postponing it is a better option. Visiting in late September is generally a safer option. Current weather, road conditions, strong river flows, and landslide risk can affect your journey.
Currently, IMD Char Dham has updated the rain activity along the pilgrimage routes. As of September 3, heavy rain risk has been flagged for the Rudraprayag-Kedarnath and Rudraprayag-Joshimath areas, with intense rainfall possible in parts of these routes.
