Where Is Nag Devta Temple in Mussoorie?
Nag Devta Temple is located on Cart Mackenzie Road in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand, along the Mussoorie-Dehradun route. It is approximately 6 km from main town, on the road towards Dehradun. From Dehradun continue to Rajpur-Mussoorie Road and take left from the Hathipaon Diversion and continue approx. 1 km towards the temple.
Most of the people spend their time visiting Mall Road, Waterfalls and other popular spots. Hathipaon is one such quieter part of the route, and many travelers heading to Mussoorie do not take the time to explore this side, where Nag Devta mandir is located.
The temple is slightly below the road level in a quiet hill setting. Once you reach the temple area, you need to walk down a flight of stairs to reach the shrine. The surrounding area is quiet, with Mussoorie visible uphill and the Doon Valley below.

Inside Nag Devta Mandir, Mussoorie
You can take your vehicle close to the temple area, but parking space is limited. No large parking area is available, especially during busy days or religious occasions.
After parking, the temple is a little further down from the road level. You need to walk down the stairs to reach the shrine. The walk is short, but wear comfortable footwear, especially elders.
Inside the temple, you can see the Nag Devta shrine, a Shivling and a Havan Kund. The temple has a local and devotional feel, where visitors coming mainly for prayers and darshan.
Once inside, you can offer prayers, visit the shrine and spend some time enjoying the peaceful surroundings and the views.
As soon as you come down the temple stairs, you will find a Durga Mata Temple, which you can visit before leaving the temple.
There is a small shop near temple that sells prasad, incense and milk for offering. If you plan to offer milk to Nag Devta, you can buy it here before entering the shrine.
Nearby, a small food outlet and toilet facilities are available near the temple area, which can be useful if you are making a short stop while travelling between Dehradun and Mussoorie.

Nag Devta temple is a not popular place around Mussoorie, so it generally remains quieter than the more popular tourist spots. On normal days, you can visit the temple peacefully, offer prayers and spend some time enjoying the surrounding hills and Doon Valley.
During Nag Panchami, the temple is usually crowded. Locals or residents from near villages or surrounding areas visit the temple for prayers and special puja during this festival. The temple is much active and become lively at this time.
For a peaceful visit, choose a normal day. For those interested in seeing the temple during an important religious occasion, visiting around Nag Panchami offers a different experience.

How to Reach Nag Devta Temple from Dehradun
From Dehradun: Drive uphill towards Mussoorie-Dehradun route via Rajpur road. Pass though Bhatta Village and Mussoorie Lake. Continue and look for the Hathipav diversion on the left. The diversion leads towards Cart Mackenzie Road, where Nag Devta Temple is located.
- By Car/Taxi: Driving your own car or a taxi from Dehradun is the best option if you want to visit temple directly.
- Local Bus: From Dehradun, local buses operate through main Mussoorie highway via Library Chowk or Picture Palace. They do not take you directly to the temple. You will need another local transport to reach the for the final destination (which might not be available from there).
How to Reach from Mussoorie
From Mall Road or Library Chowk, drive towards Dehradun. Continue along the Cart Mackenzie Road and take the diversion from Hathipaon to reach Nag Devta Temple.
